Web Design · Gold Coast to Australia-wide
The Brief

344 URLs. One clear story.

Web Design344 URLs MappedExpansion ArchitectureHomepage-first

Southport Printing Co has been putting ink on paper for Gold Coast businesses for years - trade and retail, business cards to large format. Like most established businesses, their website grew the way the business did: organically, one page at a time, until it reached 344 URLs.

Then came the ambition: take the business Australia-wide. A site structured around one suburb can't carry a national story, but you can't just torch 344 URLs either - buried in them are the pages that rank, the links customers use and years of accumulated equity.

The brief: lose nothing that works, restructure everything that doesn't, and build the architecture the national business will grow into.

What We Built

Architecture before aesthetics.

The pretty part came second. First, every one of 344 URLs got a decision: keep, merge or redirect.

01

The full URL audit

All 344 URLs mapped and accounted for - kept, merged or redirected. Nothing valuable lost, nothing dead left behind.

02

Homepage-first design

Our current method, start to finish: design the homepage until the client loves it, then roll its language and standard across the whole site.

03

Expansion architecture

A structure that scales from Southport to Australia-wide without a rebuild - the national growth is designed in, not bolted on later.

04

Services, restructured

Print services and products organised the way buyers search for them, not the way the price list evolved.

05

Campaign creative

Site and campaign assets from one team, one brand voice - so the marketing and the website tell the same story.

06

Engineered to rank

SEO built into the architecture from the first sitemap: page structure, internal linking and schema designed before design.

The Craft

Architecture is strategy.

Most redesigns start with a moodboard. This one started with a spreadsheet - because on a 344-URL site, the map is the strategy.

Homepage-first is how we work now, and this project shows why. The homepage is where a business's story gets fought over hardest, so we design it first and refine it until it's genuinely loved - that's the guarantee doing its job. Once it's right, every other page inherits its standard: the voice, the hierarchy, the confidence. The site stops being 344 pages and becomes one story told 344 ways.

And because the expansion was designed into the architecture, going Australia-wide is now a matter of adding pages to a structure built to receive them - not rebuilding the house to add a room.
