Balar Media Group Pty Ltd (ABN 87 612 749 836) ("Balar", "we", "us", "our") is an Australian web design, development and SEO agency with its office at Level 1, 1024 Ann Street, Fortitude Valley QLD 4006. This policy explains how we handle personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).

The personal information we collect depends on how you deal with us, and may include:

• Contact details: your name, business name, email address, phone number and postal address.
• Enquiry and project information you provide, such as details about your business, website and goals.
• Billing information needed to invoice for our services. We do not store credit card numbers on our systems.
• Technical information collected when you use our website, such as IP address, browser type, pages visited and referring pages (see Cookies and analytics below).

3. How we collect it

We collect personal information directly from you: when you fill in a form on our website, call or email us, engage us for services, or interact with us on social media. We may also receive information from third parties you have authorised, such as a colleague who refers you to us.

4. Why we collect and use it

We collect, hold and use personal information to:

• respond to enquiries and provide our web design, development, hosting, SEO and related services;
• manage projects, accounts and billing;
• improve our website and services;
• send service communications, and (only where you'd reasonably expect it or have agreed) occasional updates about our services - you can opt out at any time;

• our team members and trusted contractors who need it to deliver our services, including team members located overseas (our production team includes staff in the Philippines);

Where personal information is disclosed overseas, we take reasonable steps to ensure the recipient handles it in a way consistent with the APPs.

We take reasonable steps to protect it from misuse, interference, loss, and unauthorised access, modification or disclosure, including encryption in transit, access controls and reputable cloud infrastructure. No internet transmission is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security of information sent to us online.

Our website uses cookies and similar technologies to help it function and to understand how visitors use it (for example, through website analytics tools). This information is generally aggregated and does not identify you personally. You can control or disable cookies through your browser settings; some parts of the site may not work as intended without them.

Affiliate referrals: every page loads the affiliate tracking script of GoHighLevel, the customer relationship management (CRM) system we use. If you arrive through a link shared by a member of the Balar Affiliate Program, it stores that affiliate's ID in two cookies (am_id and am_fingerprint) for up to 12 months, so we can credit the right affiliate. If you then send us an enquiry, the affiliate ID is saved with your enquiry in GoHighLevel, which holds your enquiry details for us. We use the ID only to credit and pay that affiliate. If you become a client, the affiliate's monthly statement shows your business name, the amounts you paid and their commission, and nothing else.

8. Marketing

We only send marketing communications where permitted by law, and every marketing email includes a working unsubscribe option. We do not use purchased contact lists.

9. Access and correction

You may request access to the personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct it if it is inaccurate, out of date or incomplete. Contact us through our contact form or call 1300 986 444 and we will respond within a reasonable time. We will not charge you for making a request.

10. Complaints

If you believe we have mishandled your personal information, contact us first through our contact form or call 1300 986 444 and we will investigate and respond. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at www.oaic.gov.au.
