Fins Restaurant.

One of Australia's most awarded seafood restaurants. The food already had the reputation. The website's job was to make you hungry before you've left the couch.

The Brief

Make them taste it online.

Web DesignHospitalityMulti-venueBookings & Functions

Fins has spent decades earning its place among Australia's most awarded seafood restaurants - a reputation built plate by plate, on the quality of the catch and the discipline of the kitchen.

The website had to live up to that. Diners decide with their eyes long before they taste anything: they scroll the menu at lunch, show a partner the room, check the occasion will hold up. A site that undersold the experience would cost bookings the food deserved to win.

The brief: a multi-venue site that sells the experience the way the room does - and gets out of the way the moment someone's ready to book.

What We Built

A site that seats people.

Every page has the same job as the front of house: make the guest feel the night before it happens, then take the booking.

01

Appetite-first design

The food and the room lead every page. Big, honest imagery, no clutter competing with the plate.

02

Multi-venue structure

Each venue gets its own presence - its room, its menu, its occasion - under one unmistakable Fins brand.

03

Menus that read well

Menus presented the way the kitchen writes them: clean, confident and easy to browse on a phone at lunchtime.

04

Bookings without friction

The booking path sits one step from everywhere, because the moment of decision doesn't wait for a contact page.

05

Functions & occasions

Weddings, events and private dining given their own space to be discovered and enquired about.

06

The story of the catch

Decades of provenance and craft woven through the site - the story that separates an awarded restaurant from a nice one.

The Craft

The plate sets the standard.

When a kitchen holds itself to an award-winning standard, the website can't be the sloppy plate. The design discipline had to mirror the kitchen's.

That meant restraint: typography that behaves like good service - present, precise, never showing off. Space around the imagery the way a well-plated dish uses the white of the plate. A scroll that paces the evening: arrival, the room, the menu, the reservation.

Hospitality sites fail when they try to be loud. Fins didn't need louder. It needed a site with the same quiet confidence as the room - and a booking button exactly where your hand expects it.

“Our restaurant's new website is stunning and user-friendly. Balar Media Group truly understands how to showcase hospitality online.”
